Groningen head coach Danny Buijs has signed a new contract which keeps him with the club for another two years.

Buijs is in his second season in charge of Groningen, having taken over from Ernest Faber during the last campaign. He guided them away from the relegation zone last season and they currently sit 8th.

The current contract for Buijs only ran until this summer but on Tuesday the 37-year-old penned a two-year extension.

Buijs has brought defensive stability to Groningen, with the club only conceding 20 goals, which is the third best defence in the league.
