Burnley have confirmed the signing of Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.

Feyenoord were hoping to sign the Netherlands U21 international as a replacement for Tyrell Malacia, but the left-back has decided to spend another season on loan in the Championship.

Maatsen spent last season on loan with Coventry City, but this year he will join Burnley, who are coached by Vincent Kompany. Maatsen will be looking to help the club bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

Maatsen told the Burnley website, “I’m happy to be here. This is a big club and a new challenge for me. I’m looking forward to meeting the people here and I’m sure this season will be a good one for me.”
