Both club’s went into the game winless, and on evidence of the poor first half it was not hard to see why. Neither team created real chances, with Hakim Ziyech firing a free kick over the bar for the visitors, while at the other end Martijn Barto fired wide for Cambuur from the edge of the box.
After the break Twente started to control the game and Ziyech should have opened the scoring with fifteen minutes to go, but his close range shot was saved by Zeinstra, while Felipe Gutierrez had a strong penalty claim turned down. Late in the game Cambuur nearly stole the three points, but Bartholomew Ogbeche’s deflected shot crept just wide.
Twente now sit 16th with three points, while Cambuur are one place below them.
