AZ Alkmaar made it three wins in a row with a well earned 2-0 win over Cambuur in Leeuwarden.

cambuur - azBoth sides went into the game looking for a win that would see them close the gap on the top four, but it was Cambuur who created the first chance as Esteban was forced into a good save to deny Michiel Hemmen while the rebound was fired wide by Sander van de Streek.

Five minutes before the break AZ were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box and Nemanja Gudelj made no mistake from the spot to give the away side a half time lead.

Early in the first half Esteban made a terrific save from Hemmen’s header before Gudelj netted his 2nd of the game, smashing Jeffrey Gouweleeuw’s cut-back past a helpless Leonard Nienhuis.

Maumer Tankovic and Guus Hupperts both missed great chances to extend AZ’s lead further as they comfortably held on for the three points.┬áThe win keeps AZ fifth, but they are now only one point behind Feyenoord in fourth while Cambuur stay 6th.
