Cambuur came into the match after the international break confident after they held PSV Eindhoven to a goalless draw in their last league outing, and took control of this tie from the start.
Jody Lukoki, on loan from Ajax had the first chance for the hosts, but his effort was held by Heracles keeper Remco Pasveer.
Just before half time, Cambuur took the lead, with a deflected cross finding its way to Michiel Hemmen, who had the easiest header into the net from a few yards.
Heracles, who lost key man Lerin Duarte to Ajax before the end of the transfer window could not break through the home side’s defence, playing mostly on the break. Chances for Thomas Bruns, and Bryan Linssen were both wasted by the visitors.
Kevin Brands went close to adding to the home side’s score but his effort grazed the outside of the post.
Just before the end, Cambuur made sure of the points, and doubled their lead, when Marcel Ritzmaier’s cross took a looping deflection off Jason Davidson, which left the goalkeeper flatfooted as the ball flew into the net.
The three points takes Cambuur into the top half, as the Eredivisie new boys continue their decent start to the season, while Heracles suffer their third defeat out of six matches.
