Cambuur’s unbeaten start to the season continued as they saw off ten-man Groningen 3-0 to move up to third in the Eredivisie.

camgrodsdCambuur were the better side from the start but they could not find an opening goal in the first half with Marc Barto’s long range effort which flew into Sergio Padt’s hands the closest they came.

Six minutes into the second half Cambuur finally got the reward for their dominant play as Albert Rusnak picked up the ball on the edge of the box before jinking past two defenders and sending a fierce drive into the bottom corner.

Groningen were sloppy all over the pitch and after targeting Rusnak with some nasty fouls they were reduced to ten men as Rasmus Lindgren was shown his second yellow card.

With an extra man Cambuur took advantage and doubled their lead on 74 minutes through Bartholemew Ogbeche who fired into the roof of the net after being allowed too much space on the edge of the box. Sander van de Streek wrapped up the three points for the home side as he finished El Makrini’s cross from close range with ten minutes to go.

Cambuur now sit a point behind leaders PSV in the table while Groningen sit sixth.
