Cambuur had failed to earn a single point in 2016 before Saturday evening, but the Leeuwarden side started positively against PEC Zwolle with Sander van de Streek and Martijn Barto both going close.
PEC Zwolle failed to get a grip on the game and just after the hour mark they were reduced to ten men with Ouasim Bouy receiving his second yellow card. The midfielder was alleged to have tripped Barto, but replay’s showed their was no contact.
Despite the man advantage it appeared Cambuur were going to have to settle for a draw until with five minutes left Jack Bryne fired in the winner from the edge of the area.
The victory lifts Cambuur back above De Graafschap into 17th, while PEC Zwolle lie 9th.
