berishaThe 19-year-old, who was born in Albania but represents Sweden, put pen to paper on his one-year-contract in Leeuwarden on Friday, but Cambuur have the option to extend the deal by another year.

Berisha earned a move to Roma after starring at the U17 World Cup in 2013, where he was top scorer in the tournament with seven goals in seven games. A loan move to Panathinaikos followed last season, but the striker only appeared once for the Greek giants.

Cambuur technical director Henry van der Vegt told the clubs official site, “Valmir was in the interest of many big European clubs and the fact he has chosen SC Cambuur and the Eredivisie proves that he wants to invest in himself and his career. He’s a real striker with a nose for the goal and obviously has a lot of talent.”
