Twente are in dire financial straits which has seen them docked six points by the KNVB this season, and the Enschede club will look to sell some of their high earners this summer to ease their burden.
Top of the list of possible departures will be striker Luc Castaignos, who is one of the clubs top earners since joining in the summer of 2012 from Inter Milan. Swansea City were heavily linked with the 22-year-old last summer and even had a bid accepted by Twente, before the deal fell through, but according to Voetbal International the Premier League side will make another move for the striker.
This will come as good news for Castaignos, who has admitted to Helden Magazine that he is hoping to join a club in either Germany or England this summer.
Castaignos said, “At the end of this season I will have to choose, partly because it makes FC Twente healthier. I want to go abroad, preferably to a nice top performer in England or Germany , so I can get used to the league. I have enough self-knowledge to know that I’m not ready for the real top.”
