barca cruyff triuThe Catalans have submitted an official request to the KNVB for a tie in December, but this has been turned down by the Dutch FA. The KNVB have now made a counter proposal.

A spokesman for the KNVB said, “We can not get together at that time because it is not an official period for international matches or practice matches,”

“But we have sent our Catalan colleagues a letter with different ideas to keep a tribute between Dutch football and the Catalans for Cruyff. We are waiting for an answer.”

Cruyff, who died from lung cancer last month, made himself a legend in Catalonia after playing for Barcelona. As a coach, Cruyff also managed the Catalonian national team on several occasions.
