Van Dijk was called into the Netherlands squad for the first time last month, but the centre back did not make his debut and had to watch as they were beaten by both Italy and the Czech Republic.
Guus Hiddink has once again brought the impressive Celtic star into his squad for the upcoming matches against Kazakhstan and Iceland, with the 23-year-old hoping to finally pull on the Oranje shirt.
Van Dijk told VI, “I am obviously very happy that I’m there, but I also hope for playing time,”
“I think I’m doing well. I also feel that I am ready for the Dutch national team. ”
The former Groningen defender faces stiff competition for a starting spot though, with Stefan de Vrij, Bruno Martins Indi, Jeffrey Bruma and Joel Veltman also vying for the two centre back places.
