PSV Eindhoven is still clinging on in the Champions League after a 2-2 draw against Tottenham in Eindhoven. A late Luuk de Jong goal gave them a point after Hugo Lloris saw red for the visitors.

After two defeats in their opening two group games, the tie against Tottenham was seen as do or die for PSV. Mark van Bommel had to do without Steven Bergwijn, who was injured, and Donyell Malen started.
Tottenham started on top and had the better chances in the opening stages, with Harry Kane hitting the bar, while PSV only caused danger through free-kicks. However, out of nothing PSV took the lead on 30 minutes. Hirving Lozano robbed Toby Alderweireld of the ball and raced towards goal, the former Ajax defender got back to make a tackle but only deflected the Mexican’s strike over Hugo Lloris and into the net.
Davinson Sanchez thought he had equalised for Spurs when he fired in a corner, but the linesman’s flag was up to the bemusement of most in the ground. Lucas Moura did level the scores moments later though, finding a way past Jeroen Zoet thanks to a deflection.
Before the break, PSV were unlucky not to be ahead when Gaston Pereiro danced into the box before his strike deflected off Sanchez and onto the bar.
Tottenham were also the stronger team after the break and in the 52nd minute, Zoet had to make a great stop to prevent Christian Eriksen scoring. Moments later, Eriksen played a one-two with Son before crossing for Kane to head past Zoet and make it 2-1 for the visitors.
Kane and Erik Lamela went close to making it 3-1 with PSV unable to make an impact going forward. However, with ten minutes left, Hugo Lloris was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge on Lozano. The resulting free-kick saw De Jong aim for the bottom corner but Michel Vorm got down to make the save.
PSV eventually made the extra man count with De Jong flicking a Pablo Rosario strike past Vorm to make it 2-2. Both sides went in search of a winner in five minutes of extra-time but in the end the points were shared.
PSV remain bottom of the table on one point and now travel to London in two weeks before matches with Barcelona and Inter.
Can’t wait to hear what the Lloris lovers have to say about this. Coco strikes again, what a fucking clown he is.
I am not happy after watching that. There was absolutely no ambition to attack from PSV until Lloris got sent off. It felt like they were playing scared from the opening kickoff until the red card. Also have to be honest, Spurs goal that was ruled out for offside was just wrong. Kane made an effort to not have an effect on the play, not the other way around. The 1-0 goal was nothing but Lozano taking advantage of a mistake.
It is now necessary to win at Wembley. I believe PSV is capable of it, but they must play with an attacking mindset. That’s how Mark van Bommel has built the team. They looked better in losing 4-0 in the Nou Camp than they did drawing 2-2 at home to Spurs.
I also think it is time for Hendrix to go the way of Ramselaar. I do not question his effort, but his quality is not developing as I expected. Give Gutiérrez a chance to start in his place.
