The 21-year-old Englishman has spent the last two seasons on loan with Vitesse from Chelsea and has become a key member of Henk Fraser’s squad.

However, speaking to De Gelderlander, Baker has confirmed that he will not spend another year on loan in the Eredivisie as he is looking to make the next step in his career.

Baker said, ”It’s time for the next step. A third year Vitesse is in my development just does not make sense. I’d like to prove myself at a higher level.”

The midfielder still hopes to make a breakthrough with Chelsea but Baker is realistic, “It could also be just another a new rental period. I am now used to it. I’m under contract with Chelsea, but play my football somewhere else.”
