After the 3-0 loss to Heerenveen in midweek, Dick Advocaat decided to start with Bryan Linssen up front against PSV. Roger Schmidt brought Mauro Junior into his side after the midfielder’s impressive cameo in the win over Emmen.
In the seventh minute, Feyenoord had the lead as Lutsharel Geertruida outpaced Mauro before crossing to Mark Diemers, who fired through the legs of Yvon Mvogo.
PSV pushed forward but they failed to turn their possession into chances. Then in the 25th minute, Steven Berghuis cut inside and found the top corner with an excellent strike.
Eran Zahavi missed a big chance to pull one back for PSV and Linssen punished it by making it 3-0 with a cool finish just before the break.
Early in the second half, Nick Marsman denied Zahavi before Ibrahim Sangare pulled one back for PSV in the 56th minute. Donyell Malen then missed some chances as PSV failed to make a comeback.
Feyenoord books a big win and they climb to fourth, while PSV are second and currently four points behind Ajax, who face AZ.
