According to Voetbal Primeur, talks between Jones and Feyenoord have taken place regarding an extension to his current deal, due to expire this summer, but no agreement has yet been forthcoming. Therefore, Jones could potentially leave for free this summer.
However, Jones seems to have plenty of options should his talks with Feyenoord stall as FC Twente, SC Heerenveen, FC Utrecht and AZ have already been in touch with the goalkeeper’s agent to convey their interest in a free transfer.
It is thought Jones wants first team football and he is currently engaged in a battle with Kenneth Vermeer for a starting role in Rotterdam, the outcome of which may determine his future.
However, all the clubs currently showing an interest in Jones would like to make him first choice to solve their own goalkeeping issues. FC Twente and SC Heerenveen have Nick Marsman and Erwin Mulder with expiring contracts and the futures of Tim Krul and Robbin Ruiter are both unclear at AZ and FC Utrecht respectively.
