Phillip Cocu got an idea of the task ahead for him as Vitesse Arnhem’s head coach as his side fell to a 3-0 loss at FC Twente.

Cocu replaced Thomas Letsch in midweek and his first task as Vitesse boss was not an easy one as he came up against a Twente side looking to bounce back from their loss to Heerenveen.

Robin Propper headed wide and Vaclav Cerny hit the post as Twente dominated the early stages. It wasn’t a surprise when the hosts had the lead in the 37th minute as Joshua Brenet calmly slotted in the opener after racing onto a Cerny through ball.

Twente continued to dominate in the second half and Virgil Misidjan made it 2-0 with a finish into the corner. In injury time, Gijs Smal added a third with a strike from distance.

Twente are 5th after the victory, while Vitesse is 15th and they remain with only one win all season. Cocu has a big task on his hands to get Vitesse back into the top half.
