A Brighton fan, George Cox came through Albion’s academy before being loaned out first to Northampton Town, and this season to Fortuna Sittard, where he has impressed. Cox played a total of 21 games in the Dutch Eredivisie, but the player himself admitted in the interview that he thought he was “coming in as second choice” left-back.

“In my head, I’m going to Fortuna Sittard next season,” Cox revealed to Football-Oranje.

He continued, “Obviously, I’m still a Brighton player, so they can sort something out with Sittard about me going back there.”

“I know there’s interest in England. Whether anything happens, I don’t know. As I’ve said to people, I’m happy in Sittard. If I stay another season or two then so be it, I’ll be happy doing that.”

Cox is currently considering offers from the Championship and Fortuna, but looks set to sign a permanent contract with the Eredivisie club.
