The 27-year-old made 134 appearances for the Ajax first team after coming through the clubs academy. He left in 2014 for Manchester United but will come up against his former side in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening.

Blind said, ”I am an Amsterdammer and I want Ajax to do well but not in the final on Wednesday. I am delighted that Ajax have reached the final and it will be a special game.

”I played at Ajax since I was 7 and I know a lot of people there. I am now a Manchester United player and we have fought really hard to reach the final.

”I want to win the Europa League. I know that my father will support me a little bit more than Ajax on Wednesday.”
