blind press conferenceNetherlands go into the tie on the back of a shock 2-1 defeat to Greece which has once again raised calls for Blind to be sacked as head coach of Oranje. However, speaking at his pre-game press conference, Blind insisted he felt no extra pressure ahead of the first World Chp qualifier against Sweden.

Blind said, ”When a meaningful international match is played there is always pressure. I will not change too much in terms of the team that played against Greece. I will not reveal the starting lineup to the press beforehand. I do not feel any pressure because I can deal with pressure and I know what I am doing and also what I can achieve and also what I must achieve. In the last 6 months things have been ok but recently that has not been the case. We must focus on the job in hand.

”We are here to win and if that is not possible we must make sure that we do not lose. To start the qualifying campaign with a point or points would be positive. This team can also deal with pressure and they have been very professional in the run up to this game as they must be in such a scenario. They must focus and perform tomorrow against Sweden.”
