Frank de Boer is no longer head coach of Atlanta United after their disappointing exit from the MLS is back tournament.

De Boer was named the head coach of Atlanta United in 2018 after disappointing spells with Inter Milan and Crystal Palace.

He won the US Open Cup and the Campeones Cup with Atlanta United in his first season but in the MLS is back tournament, Atlanta United lost all three games and exited the tournament.

De Boer didn’t fear the sack after the third straight loss earlier this week, but the club has now confirmed that they have parted ways with the former Ajax star.

On the club’s website, De Boer said, “I am grateful for this opportunity at Atalanta United. Coaching in the MLS and living in Atlanta was a wonderful experience and a welcome new challenge.”

De Boer’s assistants Orlando Trustfull, Bob de Klerk and video analyst Erwin Koenis are also leaving.
