Netherlands boss Frank de Boer has given his reaction to Monday’s 2022 World Cup qualifying draw.

Netherlands will come up against Turkey, Norway, Montenegro, Latvia and Gibraltar for a place at the World Cup.

Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, De Boer said on the draw, “It is not a group of death. There is also no group of death. In every group the group leader is the favourite in my opinion.

“But of course you don’t just cross Turkey and Norway. Turkey is a good football nation with new talents. And when I think of Norway I quickly think of Erling Haaland and Martin Ödegaard. Montenegro and Latvia can also play from a good organization and we have to work on our goal difference against Gibraltar.”

De Boer is hoping that Turkey away is one of the first fixtures, “A Turkey away would be nice. Because by then there might still not be any spectators welcome. I would also like to play against Norway in March. I’m glad we didn’t hit countries like Switzerland, Sweden and Russia. And long journeys to Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have also been spared. We know where we are at that time. We can get started. “
