Besnik Hasi left Anderlecht at the end of the season, and according to AD, the Belgian giants contacted De Boer to offer him the position, but he informed them that he was not interested in the position.
After leaving Ajax at the end of the season, De Boer indicated that he would only step back into management for the right club and is believed to have already rejected an offer from Italian side Lazio. Everton was a possible destination for the 46-year-old, but they have opted for Ronald Koeman, which could leave Southampton open for De Boer.
