de boer bThe Eredivisie champions could not have picked a tougher start to their Champions League campaign than a trip to the Nou Camp, with Lionel Messi, and Neymar waiting.

Barcelona have only been defeated twice at home this year by Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, so will start the Group H match as heavy favourites.

Coach Frank de Boer has stated that it is unrealistic for Ajax to go for the win in Spain, but wants his side to play at their maximum, and show their group rivals AC Milan, and Celtic that they will be a challenger for 2nd place.

De Boer said, “Of course i play to win, but you have to be realistic. I think there are very few teams that have defeated Barcelona in their own home. So now it would be crazy if I said that we are just going to win here.”

“The point is that we show what we are capable of. We play football at times when it should be played. Most importantly I think the guys get the most out of themself and the team.”
