The coach has a contract in Amsterdam until 2017 but stated last week that he had made up his mind on whether he would still be in charge of Ajax next season. Now according to AD, De Boer has held talks with the club and indicated that he is hoping to leave.
Ajax and De Boer now need to work out how an exit will pan out, with a dissolving of his contract an option. However, should De Boer immediately join another club, such as Everton or Valencia who have been linked, then Ajax would miss out on millions that would have come from compensation.
De Boer will head with the Ajax squad to China on Friday but it now only seems a matter of time before an exit is resolved. When De Boer does leave Peter Bosz is said to be a leading candidate to replace him. The former Vitesse coach is currently in charge of Maccabi Tel Aviv, but was rumoured to have held talks with Ajax director Marc Overmars last week.
De Boer has been in charge of Ajax for six years, leading them to the title in four of those.
