The home side began the game in control, and they where a whisker away from netting the opening goal when Cas Peter’s shot was parried against Youssef El Jebli right in front of goal, but the deflection went just wide of the post.
Willem II barely threatened in the opening half hour, but two goals from Erik Falkenburg put them 2-0 up at the break. Firstly on 41 minutes the forward excellently volleyed past Hidde Jurjus after a measured pass from Robbie Haemhouts, and two minutes later an error from the De Graafschap keeper allowed Falkenburg to walk in his second.
De Graafschap started the second half brightly but any chance of a comeback seemed to be ended on the hour mark when Alexander Bannink was shown his second yellow card.
However Cas Peters pulled one back from the penalty spot after a foul by Dries Wuytens, and in injury time Vincent Vermeij rose at the back post to head the hosts level and earn them their first point of the season.
De Graafschap stay bottom, but will no doubt gain confidence from the comeback, while Willem II remain 13th.
