Go Ahead Eagles are back in the Eredivisie after a 1-1 draw with De Graafschap on Sunday. The Deventer club win their play-off final 5-2 on aggregate.

go ahead defDe Graafschap had an uphill task to confirm their stay in the Eredivisie after they were hammered 4-1 in the first leg on Thursday and they began the game strongly on Sunday. The Go Ahead Eagles goal was peppered with shots and eventually on 28 minutes Piotr Parzyszek headed in the opening goal.

However, Go Ahead Eagles stunned the home crowd before the break as Leon De Kogel fired a lovely strike into the top corner to make it 1-1 and 5-2 on aggregate.

The home side pushed forward in the second half but the Go Ahead Eagles defence stood firm to ensure they return to the Dutch top flight a year after going down.

For De Graafschap, they are now relying on Willem II turning round a 2-1 deficit against NAC Breda. If Willem II win, De Graafschap will take FC Twente’s place in the Eredivisie if they are relegated.
