NEC, who left top scorer Christian Santos on the bench, came the closest to scoring early on with Hidde Jurjus having to make a fine save to deny Wojciech Golla’s header. Minutes after the save De Graafschap took the lead with Andrew Driver cleverly firing past Brad Jones from a tight angle.
Christian Santos came off the bench at half time and he made an instant impact, with the striker on the end of a poor challenge from Karim Tarfi, which saw the De Graafschap midfielder sent off.
Minutes after the red card Anthony Limbombe saw a strike hit the post before NEC eventually equalised on 78 minutes with Marcel Ritzmaier finishing on the rebound. NEC then pushed for the winner, with Santos and Limbombe coming close with shots late on, but De Graafschap held on.
The point sees De Graafschap move to within one point of second bottom Cambuur, while NEC stay fifth.
