Jaap Stam tasted defeat for the first time as PEC Zwolle boss last weekend but they were hoping to return to winning ways against second-bottom De Graafschap.
The home side dominated the first half but chances were few and far between. In the 36th minute, De Graafschap took the lead when Thomas Lam scored an own goal as he looked to prevent Charlison Benschop from netting.
Mike van Duinen and Vito van Crooij went close to an equaliser before the break but De Graafschap remained dangerous. Benschop was sent through on goal but his finish was weak and easily saved.
In the 64th minute, the striker did find the net to make it 2-0 and net his first Eredivisie goal since 2012.
Kingsley Ehizibue missed a sitter and even after Fabian Serrarens was sent off for an elbow on Lam, PEC Zwolle couldn’t find a way back. Despite having a man less, Delano Burgzorg added a third before the end.
De Graafschap remains 17th but are now four points from PEC Zwolle in 15th.
