Foppe de Haan will stay on as head coach of Heerenveen until the end of the season.

de haan kkThe 72-year-old stepped in when Dwight Lodeweges was sacked in October, and was only expected to be in charge until the winter break. However after the 2-1 win over Excelsior on Friday, it was confirmed that the veteran coach will remain in charge until the end of the season.

De Haan told his press conference, “I’m staying,”

“It’s tough, because I’m not young anymore, but for the club this is the best.”

Since De Haan took charge Heerenveen’s form has improved drastically with four wins and one draw out of the last seven league games. The club have risen to 10th in the table.
