Barcelona drew 0-0 with Real Madrid in the Nou Camp on Wednesday but the hosts were lucky not to lose the game after being second best for most of the evening.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, De Jong said on his first El Clasico, “The match itself was a bit disappointing, I have to say. The atmosphere and everything was great, but I think that the match was a bit disappointing for everyone. I think Real Madrid put a lot of pressure on us. We were not good at reaching the boys up front either . I think the problem was mainly there.”
The midfielder praised Real Madrid, “They did well, they tried to put a lot of pressure and played daringly. They certainly did not beat us, they did well.
“We had hoped and thought we would play better. Not that we were very bad. But if you tie at home, you are never satisfied. Everyone hoped to win. Barcelona should be able to beat everyone at home.”
