Frenkie de Jong played a crucial role for Barcelona again on Wednesday with his goal proving to be the winner in a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad.

Real Sociedad were a big test for Ronald Koeman’s side and they took the lead in the 27th minute through Willan Jose before Jordi Alba quickly equalised.

Frenkie de Jong then netted his first goal of the season to put Barcelona ahead before the break. The Dutchman’s strike was initially ruled offside but VAR overturned the decision.

De Jong’s goal turned out to be the winner as Barcelona saw out the win that takes them fifth in the table.

For De Jong it is the second game in a row that he has been crucial after providing the assist for the winner against Levante.
