De Jong will in the coming days put pen to paper on his contract in the USA, that will see him join LA Galaxy on a one-year-deal with an option to extend for a further two years.
The midfielder is no longer in the plans of AC Milan coach Siniša Mihajlović and the Italian giants are willing to dissolve his contract in order for him to leave on a free transfer.
De Jong isn’t set to have a lucrative first year in the US though, with the MLS’s salary cap meaning he would earn less than €1 million, but that would go up if he decides to sign an extension.
