The 18-year-old was excellent throughout the match, not only keeping Cristiano Ronaldo quiet, but also providing two assists.

After the game, he told Veronica, “I think I played well, which is also due to the team. You can do nothing on your own, we were good today, we hardly got into trouble, and that is not just me.”

On his run and cross for Babel’s goal, De Ligt added, “Of course I’m looking for someone to head in. If you give it (the cross) hard, it’s hard for the defenders and the goalkeeper, then you hope someone runs into it, Ryan headed it in very well.”

De Ligt was then jokingly asked if he would check if Ronaldo was still in his pocket when he got back to the hotel, “Haha, I will do it.”
