De Ligt returned to the starting eleven after being dropped to the bench for the midweek clash with Genoa.
The young defender was once again embroiled in a handball incident in the first half. However, VAR did not deem the offence worthy of a penalty, much to De Ligt’s relief, with the Dutch international already causing two penalties this season.
The game was heading for a 0-0 draw but in the 70th minute, De Ligt stroked the ball into the net after a corner to seal a big win for the Old Lady.
Juventus remains one point clear of Internazionale at the top of the table.
Matthijs is beginning to do justice to his scoring skills.
