Stefan de Vrij has been named the Serie A’s defender of the season after an excellent campaign for Internazionale.

The 28-year-old centre-back played in 34 of Inter’s league games as the club finished second behind Juventus.

The award is based on statistics with cup games in Italy also brought into consideration.

The other awards went to Wojciech Szczesny (best goalkeeper), Alejandro Papu Gómez (best midfielder), Ciro Immobile (best attacker), Dejan Kulusevski (biggest talent) and Paulo Dybala (best player overall).
