Ronald Koeman’s first El Clasico as Barcelona boss ended in defeat as Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners in the Nou Camp.

Koeman started with Sergino Dest in the line-up, along with 17-year-old forward’s Ansu Fati and Pedri. Frenkie de Jong also took his place in the midfield.

After only five minutes, Real Madrid took the lead when Federico Valverde found the top corner. However, Barcelona quickly equalised through Fati, who netted from close range.

Barcelona had chances to take the lead through Lionel Messi and Philippe Coutinho, but it remained 1-1 until the 63rd minute. VAR noticed Clément Lenglet holding Sergio Ramos, resulting in a penalty which the Real Madrid defender scored.

Koeman tried to change things with the introduction of Antoine Griezmann, Francisco Trincão and Ousmane Dembélé. However, Real Madrid wrapped up the win through Luca Modric late on.

A poor defeat for Koeman in his first El Clasico. Real Madrid go top of the table while Barcelona are down in 10th.
