Ajax right-back Sergino Dest has announced his decision to represent the US national team despite interest from the Netherlands.

The 18-year-old was born and raised in the Netherlands but has an American father. He has never represented Oranje at any age level, but has played for the US at youth level and made his official debut last month, but only in friendlies.
After his emergence as a key player for Ajax this season, the KNVB showed interest in converting Dest to the Dutch national team and talks between the youngster and Ronald Koeman took place.
Dest has took a while to make his decision but on Monday he confirmed to the Ajax website that he will continue to represent the USA.
