Ajax right-back Sergino Dest has been called up by the U.S national team but is not ready to make a final decision on his international future just yet.

The 18-year-old has broken into the Ajax first-team this season and is kept Noussair Mazraoui on the bench for the last two games.

Dest’s form has seen him called into the U.S National team for the first time for their upcoming friendlies with Mexico and Uruguay. However, the right-back was born in the Netherlands and there has been calls for Ronald Koeman to give him a call-up, despite the fact that Dest has never featured for a Dutch youth side.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Dest stated he is yet to make his final decision on his international future, but is yet to hear from the KNVB.

He said, “I like that now I am told that I should get a chance in the Dutch national team but I have never played in a youth team of Orange. I have never even been called and never had a chance. I have not made a choice yet. It is coming, but I have not heard from the Netherlands yet, so … But it is nice to have two options.”
