advocaat nethNetherlands coach Danny Blind stated earlier today that he was shocked by Advocaat’s decision to quit, but the 68-year-old has told NOS that the KNVB were never convinced by him and inserted a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave for a big club.

Advocaat said, ”I am really looking forward to managing a big club in Turkey and at my age such a chance is a fantastic challenge . The KNVB inserted the clause in my contract themselves that I could leave if I was approached by a big club and now that chance has arrived the KNVB must not be disappointed”.

”I must also add that even though Danny Blind made a big effort for my to be involved with the national team again the KNVB were never entirely convinced by my arrival and I ended up being the 3rd man of the national team staff ” .

”I am however completely convinced that the Dutch national team will qualify for the World Cup in Russia in 2018”.
