The former Excelsior and Brentford boss was officially named as NAC Breda boss on Monday, replacing the sacked Robert Maaskant.
Speaking at his press conference, Dijkhuizen said, “I see possibilities with NAC Breda and you can think yes at this club there have been a lot of managers who have been sacked and a few people told me not to take the job and become manager of NAC Breda but I think of the chances. Where the club are now is a great chance to step in and off course, it is not the easiest situation. But that is what makes it interesting to try and turn things around and improve the team.”
“They (NAC Breda) want to get promoted and preferably as quickly as possible and that is always easier said than done. We are not near the top of the league and it’s difficult with the points difference between us and the top of the Jupiler League. The fact that we won 4-0 at home to Sparta Rotterdam last weekend helps that. Eventually we want to get promoted and if that must be through the promotion / relegation playoffs at the end of the season so be it. That is the goal anyhow to get promoted.”
