The centre-back has failed to make an impression since joining Sporting Lisbon last summer from Turkish side Trabzonspor, making only two league appearances for the Portuguese giants.

According to Portuguese sports daily Record, a number of Eredivisie clubs have enquired about Douglas availability for next season. No clubs are mentioned in the article, but its suggested that they are from the top half of the Eredivisie.

The 29-year-old previously spent six years with FC Twente between 2007 and 2013, making over 160 Eredivisie appearances. He is eligible to represent the Dutch national team, despite being born in Brazil, but has never been called up to Oranje.
