00000 drostGroningen were searching for a new attack minded midfielder after the departure of Tjaronn Chery to QPR, and have now found his replacement after contracting Jesper Drost. The 22-year-old signs a four-year-contract at the Euroborg after Groningen agreed an undisclosed fee with PEC Zwolle.

Drost made his debut for PEC Zwolle in 2010 and has went on to make 104 league appearances for the club, scoring fifteen goals. The versatile midfielder also has two caps for Netherlands U21’s.

After his transfer was confirmed, Drost told the official Groningen website, “Of course its exciting because everything is new, but I consider it as a great challenge. I spent thirteen years at PEC Zwolle and now I’m going to prove myself here. It’s all just a bit larger than in Zwolle and I see it as a good step higher.”

Drost could make his debut this Sunday as Groningen face PSV for the Johan Cruyff Schaal.
