The 28-year-old was released by Greek side Niki Volos in December and was offered the chance to impress Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett. However after a few days training with the club, Rowett decided not to offer the former Roda JC and NAC Breda defender a contract.
Rowett told the official Birmingham City website, “He came in and did quite well in the U21 game but I just felt as though I almost needed to be blown away by someone coming from Europe, that with one injury I would need to guarantee they could handle the Championship,”
“That’s very difficult because it’s such a different style of play and the physicality.
“On the ball he looked like he could bring something different and technically he was a very good long passer, which is unusual for a foreign player.
“He looked a good character but it’s so difficult to tell in three or four days.
“I just felt I wanted to feel a little bit safer in someone who had actually played in the Championship and knew what it’s all about.”
