Dutch talent Xavier Mbuyamba is hoping to be in the Barcelona first-team within the next two years.

The 18-year-old defender made the move from MVV Maastricht to Barcelona in the summer and has trained with the first team at times.

Speaking to VTBL, Mbuyamba revealed that Frenkie de Jong gave him some advice during training, “He took me a little that day and told me to just do my thing. I did. It was a quiet workout, but I noticed that I was fine and kept up well.”

Mbuyamba also enjoyed being in the dressing room with some superstars, “Very special to be among those big names. I sat next to Marc-André ter Stegen and Messi. Then I did take a few pictures on Snapchat and sent them to friends haha. They were all very proud.”

The youngster is currently with Barca’s U19 side but has a plan to reach the first-team, “Of course I do not expect me to be there next year. I am going to Barcelona B first and want to have a good season there and do a lot with the first team training. I hope to be able to definitively join the selection within two years.”
