A round-up of how all the Dutch stars in Europe’s biggest league’s fared this weekend, including strong performances from Virgil van Dijk and Daley Blind.

Daley Blind returned to the Manchester United starting line-up for their tie against Leicester City in his old position at left back and put in a commanding performance. Blind was a constant threat with his crosses and ended the game with two assists in the 4-1 win, while he kept Jamie Vardy and Ryed Mahrez quiet before they were subbed at half time. Timothy Fosu-Mensah was left on the bench for United while Memphis Depay was outside the squad.

Ronald Koeman’s Everton slumped to a 1-0 defeat away to Bournemouth with Maarten Stekelenburg failing to keep a clean sheet in goal. Nathan Ake was an unused substitute for Bournemouth.

Vincent Janssen’s wait for his first Premier League goal goes on but he did bag himself an assist in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough. Marten de Roon played the full game for Middlesbrough, while Michel Vorm was once again an unused substitute for Spurs.

Bruno Martins-Indi and Erik Pieters both had a better day for Stoke City as they drew 1-1 with West Brom to end their losing streak. However, Martins Indi was responsible for the last minute corner which West Brom scored from.

Patrick van Aanholt was back in Sunderland’s starting line-up but he couldn’t stop his side from throwing a 2-0 lead away as they went down 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace.

Mike van der Hoorn made his first Premier League start for Swansea City but gave away a penalty in their 3-1 defeat against Manchester City. The defender was adjudged to have elbowed Kevin de Bruyne in the box. Leroy Fer was also in the Swansea City side but failed to make an impact.

Virgil van Dijk was in imperious form for Southampton on Sunday as he helped his side beat West Ham 3-0 in London. The defender was on hand to clear anything West Ham threw at his defence and made an excellent goal line clearance. Jordy Clasie was an unused substitute for Southampton.

Daryl Janmaat missed Watford’s match with Burnley on Monday with a shoulder injury.

English Championship

Roy Beerens was the star as Jaap Stam’s Reading beat leaders Huddersfield Town 1-0. Rajiv van la Parra was sent off for the table toppers early on for dissent and Beerens proved the match winger with the only goal. Joey van den Berg also featured for Reading in the victory.

Marvin Emnes was once again on the scoresheet as Blackburn Rovers recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over Derby County.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR once again failed to win with his side held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City. Tjarron Chery played the full game for QPR, while Maikel Kieftenbeld was once again impressive for Birmingham.

Glen Loovens came off the bench with twenty minutes to go of Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, but Urby Emanuelson was not involved.

Lex Immers was back in the starting line-up for Cardiff City and helped his side earn a 2-1 win over Rotherham United.

Paul Gladon remained on the bench as Wolves beat Brentford 3-1 while Ola John was not involved in the squad.

Vurnon Anita was suspended as Newcastle United drew 1-1 at Aston Villa.

German Bundesliga

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s Schalke remain rock bottom of the Bundesliga after a 2-1 defeat at Cologne.

Arjen Robben didn’t come off the bench as Bayern Munich overcame Hamburg 1-0.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Paul Verhaegh kept a clean sheet as Augsburg recorded a 1-0 win over Darmstadt.

Wolfsburg’s struggling start to the season continued with a 2-1 defeat at Werder Bremen. Jeffrey Bruma played the full ninety minutes but couldn’t prevent another loss.

Italian Serie A

Frank de Boer’s winning streak with Inter Milan was ended on Sunday as his side only managed a 1-1 draw at home to Bologna. The coach was let furious as his side missed a glorious late chance and had to settle for a point.

Kevin Strootman couldn’t stop Roma from going down 3-1 away to Torino in Sunday’s early game. The midfielder once again completed the ninety minutes.

Stefan de Vrij kept a clean sheet for Lazio as they saw off Empoli 2-0 in Rome. Wesley Hoedt and Ricardo Kishna both remained on the bench for the hosts.

Jonathan de Guzman came off the bench for Chievo just after the hour mark but couldn’t prevent their 2-0 defeat to Napoli.

Ouasim Bouy remained on the bench as Palermo went down 1-0 at Juventus.

Timo Letschert remained on the bench for Sassuolo as they beat Udinese 1-0.

Kevin Diks stayed on the bench for Fiorentina in their 0-0 draw with AC Milan.

Spanish La Liga

Jasper Cillessen was on the bench as Barcelona recorded a 5-0 win over Sporting Gijon.

Ryan Donk made his Real Betis debut on Friday, coming off the bench on 21 minutes to fill in at centre-back and he helped his side earn a 1-0 win over local rivals Malaga.

Ryan Babel appeared from the bench with fifteen minutes to go of Deportivo la Coruna’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. The winger couldn’t make much of an impact with his side already down to ten men.

French Ligue 1

Karim Rekik was left on the bench as Marseille beat Nantes 2-1.

Russian Premier League

Quincy Promes failed to make an impact for Spartak Moscow as they were stunned 1-0 at home by FC Ufa.

Lorenzo Ebecilio came off the bench with three minutes to go as Anzhi held Zenit to a surprise 2-2 draw.

Turkish Super Lig

Dick Advocaat’s Fenerbahce earned their second win in a row with a 2-1 victory over Gaziantepspor. Jeremain Lens was in fine form with two assists, while Gregory van der Wiel was solid throughout at right back. Robin van Persie was once again not involved as he struggles for fitness.

Wesley Sneijder played the full game as Galatasaray let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw with Besiktas. Nigel de Jong was not involved for the Istanbul club.

Adam Maher appeared from the bench with ten minutes to go of Osmanilispor’s 2-2 draw with Istanbul Basaksehir but failed to make much of an impact.

Swiss Super League

Jean-Paul Boetius was once again left out of Basel’s squad for their 3-1 win over St.Gallen on Saturday.

Portuguese Primeira Liga

Bas Dost’s fine form for Sporting Lisbon continued on Friday as he netted a double in their 4-2 win over Estoril. It’s now four goals in three games for the striker. Douglas was on the bench for Sporting, while Marvin Zeegelar and Luc Castaignos were not involved.

Danish Superliga

Rafael van der Vaart is off the mark for Midtylland as he netted in the 34th minute of their 5-2 win over Horsens. However, he is still yet to complete ninety minutes after being taken off ten minutes into the second half.
