A round-up of how all the Dutchmen playing in Europe’s top divisions fared over the weekend. 

French Ligue 1

Anwar El Ghazi netted his first goal for Lille to earn his new side a 1-0 win at Caen. Lille were reduced to ten men but El Ghazi raced through on goal after the hour mark and cooly slotted in the winner. Ricardo Kishna was not in Lille’s squad.

Memphis Depay completed his first 90 minutes of the season as Lyon came from behind to beat Dijon 4-2. The winger missed a good chance in the first half but assisted Lyon’s second goal and put in a lively performance after the break.

Spanish La Liga

Ryan Donk had a difficult afternoon on Friday as Real Betis went down 4-1 at Granada. The Dutchman was substituted at half time with the score already 3-0.

Jasper Cillessen was an unused substitute as Barcelona beat Leganes 2-1.

English FA Cup

Nathan Ake kept a clean sheet in Chelsea’s back three as they saw off Wolves 2-0 and booked their place in the quarter finals.

Marten de Roon was an unused substitute as Middlesbrough beat Oxford United 3-2.

Rajiv van la Parra played an hour of Huddersfield Town’s 0-0 draw against Manchester City.

Michel Vorm kept a clean sheet as Tottenham eased to a 3-0 win over Fulham. Vincent Janssen was an unused substitute.

Marvin Emnes played the full game as Blackburn Rovers went down 2-1 against Manchester United. Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Daley Blind were not part of the United squad.

Italian Serie A

Kevin Strootman played 82 minutes of Roma’s 4-1 win over Torino on Sunday. The midfielder didn’t put in his best performance before going off for Francesco Totti.

Hans Hateboer was an unused substitute as Atalanta saw off Crotone 1-0 on Saturday evening.

Wesley Hoedt was excellent at the back for Lazio as they beat Empoli 2-1. The centre-back won eight aerials, made 10 clearances and four interceptions. Stefan de Vrij was an unused substitute.

Jonathan de Guzman came off the bench with twenty minutes left of Chievo’s match with Napoli. The midfielder assisted his side’s goal but that proved to only be a consolation in a 3-1 defeat.

German Bundesliga

Arjen Robben played the full ninety minutes as Bayern Munich left it late to earn a 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin thanks to a 96th-minute equaliser. The winger took four shots during the game, had a 90.7% pass accuracy and made two key passes, but couldn’t inspire a victory.

Paul Verhaegh played the full ninety minutes as Augsburg suffered a 3-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.

Jeffrey Bruma netted an own goal as Wolfsburg went down 3-0 at Borussia Dortmund. Riechedly Bazoer was not part of the Wolfsburg squad.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar was an unused substitute as Schalke drew 1-1 at Cologne.

Portuguese Liga NOS

Bas Dost played 90 minutes in Sporting Lisbon’s 1-0 win over Rio Ave but couldn’t add to his impressive goalscoring record for the season. Luc Castaignos was an unused substitute.

Turkish Super Lig

Dick Advocaat’s Fenerbahce were held to a 0-0 draw by Kasimpasa on Sunday with Gregory van der Wiel playing the full ninety minutes.

Adam Maher netted a lovely goal as Osmanlispor hammered Adanaspor 5-1. The midfielder played a swift one-two with Pierre Webo before slotting into the net to make it 3-0.

Ryan Babel didn’t perform to his best in Besiktas 3-1 win over Akhisar. The winger couldn’t complete a single dribble or make an accurate cross, but did take four shots, of which two were on target.

Nigel de Jong played the full game as Galatasaray were held to a 1-1 draw by Rizespor.

Belgian Jupiler League

Ruud Vormer and Stefano Denswil both played the full ninety minutes and Lex Immers was a second half substitute as Club Brugge came from behind to beat Westerlo 2-1.

Bram Nuytinck impressed at the back in Anderlecht’s 4-1 win at KV Oostende.

Albert Stuivenberg’s Genk was held to a 1-1 draw against Charleroi. Sandy Walsh was an unused substitute while Jean-Paul Boetius came off the bench with 20 minutes left.

Robert Muhren was an unused substitute as Zulte Waregem beat Sint Truidense 4-1.

English Championship

Maikel Kieftenbeld couldn’t prevent Birmingham City from a 4-1 hammering at home to QPR. The midfielder played the full game but made little impact.

Yanic Wildschut was lively for Norwich City on Saturday before being substituted after 72 minutes of their 2-1 defeat at Burton Albion. Mitchell Dijks played the full game but wasn’t as influential.

Glenn Loovens was solid at the back for Sheffield Wednesday as they saw off Nottingham Forest 2-1.
