Our weekly round-up of how all the Dutchmen around Europe’s major league’s got on over the weekend.

Klaas jan Huntelaar finally ended his goal drought in the Bundesliga as he netted two goals for Schalke in their 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund. The Netherlands striker hadn’t netted since September but he slotted in from close range in the first half before finishing with a lovely chip in the second.

Arjen Robben was also on the scoresheet at the weekend as he put Bayern Munich 1-0 up on Stuttgart in an eventual 4-0 win for his side.

Wolfsburg fell further behind the top two after a shock 2-0 defeat at Mainz. Bas Dost was an unused substitute.

Paul Verhaegh netted a 90th minute penalty for Augsburg in their 2-1 defeat at home to Werder Bremen, which keeps them bottom of the Bundesliga.

Roy Beerens was an unused substitute for Hertha Berlin in their 3-1 win over Hannover 96.

Luc Castaignos came off the bench with a minute left, but he couldn’t stop Eintracht Frankfurt’s tie at Hoffenheim ending in a 0-0 draw.

English Premier League

The first game of the weekend in the Premier League saw Newcastle United climb out of the relegation zone after a hard fought 1-0 win over Bournemouth. Georginio Wijnaldum set up the winning goal for Ayoze Perez, while Vurnon Anita and Daryl Janmaat put in a hard shift as they doggedly defended for most of the game. Siem de Jong was once again an unused substitute.

Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United side saw off West Brom 2-0 with Daley Blind playing the full ninety minutes, while Memphis Depay was once again forced to watch from the bench.

A second half penalty was enough for Ronald Koeman’s Southampton to beat Sunderland 1-0. Maarten Stekelenburg and Virgil van Dijk once again kept a clean sheet for the Saints, while Jordy Clasie was hugely impressive in the midfield. Patrick van Aanholt and Jeremain Lens were unused substitutes for Sunderland.

Nathan Ake was once again impressive at left back for Watford but he couldn’t prevent his side from going down 2-1 at Leicester City.

Erik Pieters took a hard bash on the nose, but that didn’t stop the left back from helping Stoke City keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Chelsea. Ibrahim Afellay came off the bench late on for the Potters.

Leandro Bacuna came off the bench with fifteen minutes left to help Aston Villa hold Manchester City to a 0-0 draw.

Spanish La Liga

Rafael van der Vaart returned from injury to take his place in the Real Betis starting line-up. The midfielder played 67 minutes in Betis 1-0 win at Malaga, while Ricky van Wolfswinkel was an unused substitute.

Italian Serie A

Marten de Roon played the full ninety minutes as Atalanta held AC Milan to a 0-0 draw at the San Siro. Nigel de Jong was an unused sub for the home side.

Wesley Hoedt and Ricardo Kishna were both unused substitutes as Lazio lost 2-0 in their derby match with fierce rivals Roma.

French Ligue 1

Gregory van der Wiel was back in the PSG line up in their 5-0 win over Toulouse. The right back played the full match and set up Lucas Moura for the third goal.

Marseille’s indifferent start to the season continued as they were beaten 1-0 at home to Nice. Karim Rekik played the full match.

Turkish Super Lig

Wesley Sneijder netted an excellent goal for Galatasaray on Saturday to put his side ahead, and the midfielder then set up Adin in the second half to make it 3-2. However his side would eventually be beaten 4-3 by Rizespor after two goals in stoppage time.

Robin van Persie once again justified Danny Blind’s decision to drop him from the Dutch national squad after an anonymous performance in Fenerbahce’s 1-0 win over Konyaspor. The Dutchman was hooked at half-time.

Diego Biseswar provided an assist in Kayserispor’s 1-1 draw at Antalyaspor while Omer Bayram also played the full ninety minutes.

Ryan Donk played the full game as Kasimpasa beat Akhisar Belediyespor 2-1.

Portuguese Premiera liga

Bruno Martins Indi helped Porto keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Vitoria Setubal on Sunday. The centre back played the full game.

Marvin Zeegelaar netted his third goal of the season during Rio Ave’s 3-2 defeat at Maritimo.

Russian Premier League

Quincy Promes played the full ninety minutes but couldn’t stop Spartak Moscow from going down 2-1 at Terek Grozny.

Swiss Super Lig

Jean-Paul Boetius recovered from injury to take his place in the Basel starting line-up for their tie with Grasshoppers. The winger played 82 minutes in a shock 3-2 defeat.
