A round up of how all the Dutch players got on this weekend in Europe’s big leagues.

The big game on Sunday saw Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United face off against Ronald Koeman’s Southampton. First blood went to Koeman as former Feyenoord striker Graziano Pelle opened the scoring, but two goals from Anthony Martial and Juan Mata put United 3-1 up before Pelle pulled back a consolation late on. Memphis Depay and Daley Blind played the full game for Manchester United, while Virgil van Dijk and Maarten Stekelenburg completed ninety minutes for the Saints. Memphis nearly netted his first Premier League goal but hit the post.

Stoke City let a two goal lead slip against Leicester City in a 2-2 draw on Saturday. Marco van Ginkel and Erik Pieters started the game for the Potters with the former lasting 79 minutes before being substituted.

Daryl Janmaat netted for Newcastle United on Saturday, but he could not stop his side from losing 2-1 to Watford. Georginio Wijnaldum and Tim Krul played the full ninety minutes for the Magpies while Siem de Jong came on for the second half. Steven Berghuis came on for Watford with fifteen minutes to go.

Sunderland are bottom of the table on goal difference after Dick Advocaat’s side slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth. Jeremain Lens had a second half goal disallowed for Sunderland, while Patrick van Aanholt also featured for the Black Cats.

Leandro Bacuna was dropped to the bench for Aston Villa’s game with West Brom, but came onto the pitch on 76 minutes. The Dutchman couldn’t prevent his side from being defeated 1-0.

Michael Vorm remained on the bench for Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

French Ligue 1

Karim Rekik was the hero for Marseille this weekend as he headed in a late equaliser in their eventful 1-1 draw against Lyon. The game was suspended for a while after crowd trouble with Lyon leading 1-0 through an early penalty, but when the game got back underway Rekik rose to head in a corner and rescue his side a point.

Gregory van der Wiel returned to the PSG starting line-up for their tie with Reims on Saturday, but the right back couldn’t inspire the league leaders to a win as they were held 1-1.

Bas Dost came off the bench to net twice and secure Wolfsburg a 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday. The striker slotted in from close range on 76 minutes to break the deadlock before netting from the penalty spot just before the end. Dost has four goals so far this season.

Schalke are up to fourth after a 1-0 win at Stuttgart. Klaas jan Huntelaar played 71 minutes but couldn’t net his 3rd goal of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburg played out a 0-0 draw on Saturday. Luc Castaignos played 84 minutes before being taken off but couldn’t continue his fine form.

Augsburg secured their first win of the season after a 2-0 win over Hannover 96. Dutch right back Paul Verhaegh was the catalyst for the win, first setting up Asswein for the opener on 29 minutes before slotting in a penalty three minutes later. Charlison Benschop remained on the bench for Hannover.

Borussia Monchengladbacg slumped to their fifth defeat out of five games as they were seen off 1-0 by Koln. Dutch defender Roul Brouwers played the full game.

Italian Seria A

Wesley Hoedt was given a torrid time in the Lazio defence on Sunday evening as they were hammered 5-0 by Napoli. The centre back couldn’t handle Gonzalo Higuain, who netted twice during the game. Ricardo Kishna and Edson Braafheid remained on the bench for the Roman side, while Stefan de Vrij is still injured.

Marten de Roon’s Atalanta conceded a 96th minute equaliser to ten man Verona on Sunday in a 1-1 draw. The Dutch midfielder played the full game for the 12th placed side.

AC Milan came out on top of a five goal thriller with Palermo as a late Carlos Bacca goal gave them a 3-2 win. For the second game in a row Nigel de Jong was left on the bench.

Spanish La Liga

Rafael van der Vaart and Ricky van Wolfswinkel both remained on the bench for Real Betis during their 0-0 draw away to Valencia.

Portuguese Super Liga

The big game of the weekend in Portugal was the meeting of Porto and Benfica at the Estadio Do Dragao on Sunday. Bruno Martins Indi remained on the bench for Porto as they earned a 1-0 win over their fierce rivals.

Rio Ave climbed to fifth in the table after a 3-0 win at Pacos de Ferreira with Dutch defender Marvin Zeegelaar playing 79 minutes.

Russian Premier League

Spartak Moscow slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Kuban Krasnodar on Saturday. Winger Quincy Promes played the full ninety minutes but had an evening to forget.

Robin van Persie came off the bench to net the winner in Fenerbahce’s 2-1 win over Bursaspor. With ten minutes left the striker swept a Markovic cross into the bottom corner for his second goal of the season.

Kasimpasa are up to fifth in the league after a 3-0 win over Eskisehirspor with Ryan Donk playing 86 minutes of the match.

Galatasaray scraped a 1-0 win away to Trabzonspor thanks to an 82nd minute own goal. Wesley Sneijder played the full game for the Istanbul club who now sit 8th.

Kayserispor slumped to a 1-0 defeat away to Gaziantepspor. Dutch forwards Diego Biseswar and Omer Bayram started the game with the former being substituted with 20 minutes left.
