Dordrecht’s lead at the top of Eerste Divisie has been cut to six points after they were held 2-2 at Volendam in a fiery encounter which both sides ended a man down. The home side looked to have the game sewn up with 17 minutes remaining when they went 2-0 up but Erixson Danso & Paul Gladon struck to earn Dordrecht a point. It has been an eventful weekend at Sparta Rotterdam, On Saturday they went down 1-0 to a late Tim Holscher goal at Twente Jong, their third loss in four games but the drama was just unfolding as an angry group of fans waited for the return of the team bus before demanding showdown talks with Coach Adrie Bogers & less than 48 hours later Bogers had left his post. Sparta drop to third after FC Eindhoven won the derby with PSV Jong in front of 10700 fans in the Phillips Stadion to move into second spot. PSV Jong, who went into the game seven unbeaten, took an early lead but Jens van Son & Nayib Lagouireh both notched their sixth goals of the season to seal a memorable win for Eindhoven.
Willem II join Sparta Rotterdam on 34 points after Centre Back Dries Wuytens, a summer signing from Beerschot grabbed his first goal for the club in a 1-0 win at bottom side Oss. De Graafschap made light work of an inconsistent Emmen side with a 4-0 win to stay fifth & VVV Venlo move up to sixth place after goals from Randy Wolters & Jules Reimerink gave them a routine 2-0 win over second bottom Achilles 29 who haven’t won in their last seven games.
Ajax Jong & Almere City are three points ahead of second bottom Achilles 29 after they fought out a 1-1 draw on Monday night whilst Den Bosch continue their climb up the table with a 3-1 win over Telstar who drop to 16th. Former Helmond Sport striker Eric Quekel was on target for Den Bosch taking his tally to six goals in as many games. Elsewhere Helmond Sport ended a run of three successive losses with a 3-1 success over MVV Maastricht & Excelsior beat Fortuna Sittard 2-0 condemning the visitors to their third straight loss.
