Kalkeren Kieran provides a round-up of all the action from week 28 of the Eerste Divisie.

000 fc eind vAfter losing out last weekend on the 3rd Period champions trophy and a spot in the Eerste Divisie play-offs later in the season, VVV-Venlo traveled to Telstar on Friday evening. The visitors left it late in fact it wasn’t until the 73rd minute that they took the lead, thanks to Melvin Platje, VVV went on to win 0-3 comfortably as Abdelaziz Khalouta and Randy Wolters netted for the away side in the closing minutes of the match.

Fortuna Sittard hosted MVV Maastricht on Friday evening, remarkably Fortuna had lost their last six matches on the trot and things weren’t about to change as MVV’s Davy Brouwers and Stef Peeters both scored in quick succession just minutes before half-time. The victory for the away side was sealed when Jordy Croux netted MVV’s 3rd goal of the night on the 71st minute.

High flying FC Oss visited FC Emmen on Friday evening, Teije ten Den of FC Oss opened the scoring on the 14th minute, while Justin Mathieu doubled the away sides lead minutes later. FC Oss weren’t finished scoring just yet as Genaro Snijders scored his sides 3rd goal of the night on the 50th minute. However in the dieing minutes of the match Emmen happened to net twice thanks to Roland Bergkamp and Cas Peters, FC Oss held on for the win, finishing 2-3.

Second placed FC Eindhoven faced 4th place FC Volendam on Saturday, with Kevin Brands opening the scoring for Volendam early in the 1st half. However the home side began the second half the stronger of the two as Norichio Nieveld, Tibeau Swinnen and Tom Boere all netted for FC Eindhoven during the second half, giving them a 3-1 win.

Bottom of the table RKC Waalwijk hosted Sparta Rotterdam in the second of Saturdays Eerste Divisie fixtures. The home side took the lead minutes into the second half thanks to Arsenio Valpoort, Sparta found an equaliser through Romano van der Stoep on the 87th minute, but the yellow and blue of RKC stunned the travelling supporters and presumable themselves when Derwin Martina restored the home sides lead late into added time, ending his side’s win-less streak of 8 matches.

Achilles 29 defeated FC Den Bosch on Sunday, thanks to goals from Mehmet Dingil and Twan Smits in the 41st and 60th minute’s. Den Bosch managed to pull a goal back on the 86th minute, when Barry Maguire slotted home a penalty, but the match finished 2-1 to Achilles 29.

Tom van Hyfte gave Roda JC the lead on the 11th minute as they faced inform De Graafschap, but the away side equalised on the 53rd minute through Karim Tarfi. Neither of the sides were able to bag the winning goal as the match finished 1-1, the result leaves the limburgers in 3rd place.

Jong PSV and Helmond Sport met in Eindhoven on Monday evening, but the match finished 0-0 to the disappointment of visitors, who squandered several scoring opportunities throughout the match.

Christian Santos’s goal minutes before half-time was enough for NEC Nijmegen as the visitors managed to see off Jong FC Twente in a rather unconvincing 0-1 victory for the league leaders. NEC supporters won’t be too worried about letting promotion slip from their grasp as they now lead the Eerste Divisie by a remarkable 18 points.

Jong Ajax overcame Almere city 3-1 on Monday evening. Robert Muric opened the scoring for Jong Ajax on the 7th minute, followed by Django Warmerdam’s goal just minutes later. Striker Sam Hendriks then added the third late into the second half, but the home side failed to hold on to their clean sheet as Almere’s Norair Aslanyan-Mamedov netted on the 77th minute.
